Since 2004, we have been offering an all-natural UV protection collection made from our certified cotton in four different UV protection levels (UV Protect 30, 40, 60 and 80) – all certified according to UV STANDARD 801. This standard tests under realistic wearing conditions and is recommended by Stiftung Warentest. It is much more reliable than the frequently used Australian-New Zealand Standard, which only tests textiles when new and dry.
There are now 15 certified organic cotton fabrics (kbA) in the classic colors flame, Caribbean sea, marine, red, dahlia, mystical, turbulence, slate green (UV80), jeans, azalea, golden yellow, green tea (UV60) cayenne, rosé (UV40) as well as taupe (UV30) – completely without chemical additives. All items made from these materials reliably protect against harmful UV rays – from 2 hours to a whole day!
Our special UV protective textiles can be reliably recognized by the "UV-Protect" label of UV STANDARD 801. Detailed information can be found at: www.uvstandard801.de .
Similar to sunscreen, the protective effect of clothing is indicated as "UV protection factor (USF)" or "ultraviolet protection factor (UPF)". The determined protection factors indicate the extension of the maximum, unprotected exposure time in direct midday sun, which varies depending on skin type.
Ideally, dermatologists recommend a protection factor of 30 or more, but for pre-tanned skin, a dark complexion, and only a short exposure time, 20 can be sufficient.
According to the Australian standard, textiles are only tested dry & new; a material tested in this way and labeled with a protection factor of 40 often only achieves a protection factor of 5 according to UV STANDARD 801!
Only UV-STANDARD 801 tests fabrics under conditions of use: wet, stretched and washed multiple times.
The lowest measured value is printed on the label and guarantees the actual protection provided.

The most important protective measure is a sensible approach to the sun: Less is more!
No direct sun for infants under 1 year, toddlers only with sufficiently high sun protection (preferably textile)! Start slowly – never between 11 am and 3 pm!
Know and consider UV forecasts – the higher the UV index (UVI), the greater the risk of sunburn
